Welcome to Mario Kart: Ultra Circuit! (tentative title)

A work in progress demo of a 3D Mario Kart Fangame made in Construct 3 for fun just to see how far I could go with it.
Originally started only as a simple test clone of Super Circuit with 1 AI car and no items at all, I've since morphed it into something more original with plenty of characters, items and original tracks.

As it's currently in progress, there WILL be errors or bugs.

NOTE: PLEASE PLAY IN CHROME or EDGE, FIREFOX SEEMS LAGGY

Features:
- 13 Playable characters from Mario to Birdo to Kamek!
- Race through the first 4 tracks of the Mushroom Cup and go for the trophy!
- All the usual items are here, mushrooms, shells, bananas and fireballs!

CONTROLS: 

Press Start on Controller at main menu to activate Gamepad Controls or
Press Enter on Keyboard at main menu to activate Keyboard Controls

A Button / Z: Accelerate
X Button / X: Items
Right Shoulder Button / CTRL: Slide
Analogue Stick / Left & Right: Steer
Start or A / Enter: Start

- Add Rosalina

Bugs that may be present
- Weird colours after AI invincible occasionally
- Can't go through ghost AI players
- AI players items being self-destroyed
- Getting hit with items while invincible
- Bomb/Lightning explosions don't always destroy items
- Red shells held behind don't get destroyed properly
- Items sometimes do no damage to AI
- AI sometimes too fast or too slow

Stuff to add MAYBE.

Is this game dead

Will this version also be completed as a full version? I know it takes a lot of time and work. Developing a game is not easy

Hello everyone! The game is very well developed. However, I keep having the same bug in the game! Once I have played through all the routes, the confirmation button no longer works if I want to select a different game character. I have to close the game and restart it every time

Thanks for letting me know. I'll try and fix this next time I release a demo.

The next version will only have the next cup in it with 4 more tracks and some bug fixes. I'm only making this in my spare time for fun.

I guess ... I found a little Glitch in Dusty Desert, but it's not important to fix  ... 'cause it is a ,,Longcut''.   Actually, it was FUN to discover Glitches by just failing.

Btw.  you could add Shy Guy  or even a Mii

its a bit slippery just like mario kart snes but a really fun game if you know how to play it

I have a suggestion. Since this is a game modeled in a retro way, to me adding Rosalina in before other characters this early would feel a bit out of place. I feel like a Shy Guy or DK Jr.  would be more true to the sprites from this era. 

There are also a lot of new faces like a Blooper, Pokey or Thwomp i'd love to see before you put in a character we currently see appear in everything.  I attached an image below with some ideas

Amazing Game !

For what it is as of now, it's very impressive. All it really needs is fine-tuning, multiplayer, and the rest of the courses.

This is just me, but I would suggest making the drift mechanics as close to MKWii (Outside Drift, not Inside Drift) as possible, as it's always felt perfect that way imo.

I agree with you i wanna see what multiplayer would look like and the rest of the other courses

I have a bug to report. If you fall off the course, you'll drop down to 8th place, and there is no way you can get into any higher place. I dropped off the map and lakitu put me back on the course and i thought i could come back and clutch it up but i was progressing. I shouldve won the race but it said i was in 8th place but i was actually in 1st.

It's something I know about already, the lakitu has dropped you in front of certain invisible checkpoints that you need to cross for a lap to be considered "complete" and because you haven't hit them your lap hasn't counted. I need to figure out a solution for this.

I figured this out I think in my game, just space the key checkpoints out farther than lakitu checkpoints and have 2 separate variables tracking each. Then just respawn to the one with the matching ID.

This is honestly really good for what it is so far. I think my only gripes at present are that you slow down way too quickly upon touching off-road portions and there's some collision that's a little jank. Also pretty sure one of my laps didn't count because I got hit by a shell right before I crossed it, dunno what happened there. Even still, really solid start and I look forward to seeing this game evolve.

I might tweak how much you slow down off-road in the next version I think as a few people have mentioned it. As for laps not counting, yeah there are some moments where it can glitch out that I'll be fixing. Glad you enjoyed it overall though!

Could you consider switching or adding the ability to drift with the shift key? It uses the control key on Mac, and it switches to other apps you have open every time you want to drift :(

Yeah I can probably do that. Ideally I'd eventually like people to be able to set their own keys.

This is really good! I made a super circuit fangame for MFGG's game jam earlier this year, and this is infinitely better than what I made for that. The only thing that I think needs fixed is the controls. I do not like how this game controls in the slightest, maybe it's just because I'm so used to mine, but regardless, really good.

Any suggestions for what you think would make the game control better? I've tried to make it feel somewhat between Super Circuit and SMK but honestly it's hard because everyone is used to something different and if you've played your own enough you get so used to it that moving to another movement type is different. I played your game (pretty impressive too!) and I find it really hard myself with the drifting/sliding etc.

I can show you the source for an up to date version on Discord, but I currently don't have access due to my game because my SSD that has the file for it decided to crap out and stop working. I'll show you when I have the chance though!

What's hard with 50cc? I just tested it and it seemed fine.

Those dummies kept acting like they are not going easy on me and they kept going aggressive  to me

Ah yeah the AI doesn't really change tactics in lower speeds, you just have more time to catch up or react because the race is slower. Maybe later I'll add it to make AI a bit dumber on easier CC difficulties.
